The Woman Behind the Treatment Room: Why I Became a Reflexologist

There is a woman behind every treatment.

And behind the treatment room at RED Reflexology, there is me.

Not just the reflexologist you meet when you walk through the door. Not just the hands working on your feet, the oils, the crystals, the calming music or the beautiful treatment room. There is a woman who has lived, loved, lost, struggled, changed direction, raised three boys, rebuilt herself and continues to heal too.

And perhaps that is why I do what I do.

I didn’t always know this was where I was heading. For 13 years, I was a primary school teacher. I loved parts of it. I loved the children, the relationships and knowing that I was making a difference. But somewhere along the way, I started to feel that I was meant to do something different. Something that felt more aligned with who I was becoming.

I had always been fascinated by wellbeing, natural therapies, spirituality and the incredible connection between our minds and our bodies. Reflexology had been part of my own life, and the more I learnt about it, the more I felt drawn towards it.

So I took the leap.

I trained as a reflexologist, qualified with my Level 3 Diploma and eventually walked away from a secure career to build something of my own. It was exciting but terrifying. Because starting again means leaving behind the version of yourself that you already know.

Becoming a reflexologist wasn’t the only transformation happening in my life. I became a mum to three boys. I went through separation and divorce. I experienced heartbreak. I lost my dad. I found myself navigating some of the most painful and uncertain chapters of my life while simultaneously trying to keep showing up for my children, my work and myself.

There were times when I felt completely overwhelmed. Times when I questioned who I was. Times when I had to find strength that I didn’t know I had.

And, like so many women, I kept going.

But I also started to understand something really important:

We don’t have to wait until we are completely broken to start looking after ourselves. We don’t have to earn rest. We don’t have to be at breaking point before we ask for support.

And we certainly don’t have to carry everything alone.

That’s where reflexology became so much more than a job. Over the years, I’ve worked with women experiencing stress, overwhelm, hormonal changes, menopause, pregnancy, emotional exhaustion, poor sleep and the many physical and emotional demands that come with being a woman.

And what I’ve realised is that people don’t simply come into my treatment room because their feet hurt. They come because they need a pause. A place where nobody needs anything from them. A space where they can breathe. Sometimes they talk. Sometimes they cry. Sometimes they don’t say very much at all.

And sometimes they simply lie there and allow themselves to be looked after for an hour.

I don’t take that lightly because I know what it feels like to desperately need a safe space to put everything down for a while. The treatment room is a judgement-free space. I don’t expect you to arrive as the perfect version of yourself.

You don’t need to have your life together. You don’t need to be calm. You don’t need to explain why you’re exhausted. You don’t need to apologise for crying. You can arrive frazzled, emotional, overwhelmed, hormonal, tired, grieving, excited, confused or simply desperate for some time to yourself. You are welcome exactly as you are.

And perhaps that’s one of the biggest reasons I love what I do, because underneath all of our different stories, we are all human.

We all need to feel safe. We all need connection. We all need rest.

And sometimes we all need someone to simply say:

“You can put it down for a while. I’ve got you.”

Why I specialise in women...

My work has naturally evolved towards supporting women.

Women going through huge transitions. Women becoming mothers. Women navigating perimenopause and menopause. Women who are constantly caring for everyone else. Women who have lost themselves somewhere along the way. Women who are healing from experiences they don’t always have words for.

And women who simply want to reconnect with themselves.

This is also why I created my Sacred Reset Ritual.

I wanted to create something that went beyond a traditional reflexology treatment. Something that recognised that our bodies hold so much of what we experience.

Stress.

Emotions.

Grief.

Tension.

Overwhelm.

The things we suppress because there simply isn’t time to feel them.

My work brings together reflexology with breathwork, meditation, nervous-system practices, qigong and emotional release techniques to create a space where women can slow down, reconnect and begin to let go.

Because sometimes we don’t need another thing to do.

We need permission to stop.

I am still becoming too.

One of the most important things I’ve learnt is that being the person supporting others doesn’t mean you have everything figured out yourself.

I don’t.

I’m still learning.

Still growing.

Still healing.

Still navigating motherhood, relationships, change and all the uncertainty that life brings.

But perhaps that makes me better at what I do.

Because I don’t sit across from you pretending to have all the answers. I sit beside you as another woman who understands that life can be messy, beautiful, heartbreaking, transformative and everything in between. I know what it is like to lose yourself.

And I know what it feels like to slowly find yourself again.

So, why did I become a reflexologist?

Because I wanted to create the kind of space I believe women desperately need.

A space to breathe.

A space to be heard.

A space to feel.

A space to rest.

A space to reconnect with the woman underneath all the roles she carries.

Mother.

Partner.

Daughter.

Business owner.

Carer.

Friend.

Employee.

The list goes on.

But underneath all of those roles is simply you.

And that’s the woman I want to help you reconnect with.

RED Reflexology isn’t just about reflexology for me. It’s about creating a little pocket of calm in a world that asks women to constantly keep going. It’s about reminding you that your wellbeing matters too. It’s about creating a space where you don’t have to be strong for anyone else.

And it’s about believing that sometimes, healing begins with something as simple as stopping long enough to breathe.

So when you step into my treatment room, you’re not just meeting a reflexologist. You’re meeting a woman who has walked through her own storms.

A woman who is still learning.

Still healing.

Still becoming.

And who genuinely believes that every woman deserves a space where she can put the world down for a while.

This is the woman behind RED Reflexology.

And I’d love to welcome you into my treatment room.
